Title: Jets Jets Jets!
Post by pdbigt357 on 07/21/09 at 07:35:56

I PM'd LANCER and he is out of parts temporarily.  I have to get jets for my wifes bike before she returns home in a couple weeks.

I can not find any threads that talk about where everyone is buying the jets for their carbs.......

Please Advise

If there are any bike shops in the area you should be able to pick up a Large Round Mikuni 152.5 main .... seems to me you really should leave the pilot as is until you know that you need it - and sand the white spacer down to about half

mikuni jet type N100.604 #152.5

hm... LANCER hasn't responded to my PM's and i sent him payment for jets July 1st....

I'll give it a little while longer before I head out to the stealership to order jets and see what PayPal can do about getting the money back.

I spoke with a few people on here to include LANCER and they all suggested that I use a 155 main with a 55 pilot and 1/2 spacer.

My wifes bike has a Jardine Exhaust and K&N filter (not stock replacement/RU-1750 Universal).  With those mods the bike is dying at topend.

I just needed to get the part numbers for the Jets so I can order them and maybe also find the best place to order them from.  Most of you have been down this road so I wanted to find out where you got your jets.

Advise.

I usually just get my jets from the stealership.

No suzuki dealerships in this area.  Can I pick them up from any dealership?

What is the part number for the Pilot Jet?  Reelthing posted the PN for the Main..

Which pilot jet makes the idle circuit more rich? With bleed holes or without?

Go to any dealership or custom shop. Tell them the part number or the type of jet you need and they may have them in stock.

Harley uses Mikuni carbs so you can try them. Just ask for the large round jets.

Hey thanks guys!  I got PM'd by another member and he is going to send me a Kit he picked up from Lancer that he didn't need.

Lots of good info.  I appreciate the help!

The dealership I was in the other day has a large divided bin with jets of many sizes and shapes.  They don't even ask which bike or carb model.  The main jet is 8mm diameter, 9mm long, and whatever size you need.  $4 each.

The pilot jet is the long type, and I don't know whether it needs the air bleed holes or not.

The TYPE of pilot jet, bleed type or non-bleed type, does not cause a more or less rich mixture.  With either one, the same amount of fuel is delivered.  The difference is ... as some claim, thus the design difference ... that the bleed type makes for a smoother transition from idle to 1/4 throttle compared to the non-bleed type.

Its kind of a tom-aa-toe  vs  tom-ah-toe kind of thing.

Well I tried the #55 Pilot with bleed holes versus the #52.5 stock without. With the #52.5 I have afterfire and popping on decel, Mixture screw about two turns out. With the #55 it running way too rich, like you drive it with the choke pulled all the time, even with mixture screw all the way in. But no popping and afterfire anymore. So I wondered if there's a #55 without bleed holes to see how this one works. I actually need one in between 52.5 and 55, but there is no such thing.

If i'm not mistaken, what I have read in other posts, you should re adjust your mixture screw and throttle cable until you find a happy median.  With the larger pilot installed that is.

It seems that once your close to the correct jetting, the rest is fine tuning, the difference between high idle and low.  And from reading...... that is a mixture screw adjustment.

Can't wait to get the jets for my wifes bike...

That is exactly what I tried. The #55 jet was too rich with black smoke at idle, even with the mixture screw all the way in. This was as lean as it gets for that size jet. Getting the #52.5 stock jet as rich as possible was still not enough to get it running rich enough to run right. Even with the mixture screw out about 4-5 turns, and it still ran too lean. Not as bad as before, but the idle was fluctuating all over the place. I had to constantly adjust it up and down. The carb is clean as a whistle. I wonder if I could order another stock 52.5 jet and make the hole bigger, so it would be in the middle between 52.5 and 55. Does anybody know what size holes the different jets have?

We used to use jewelers tapered reamers to custom fit jets.  Start with two slightly small.  progressively ream one until it's just past optimum, then ream the other to optimum and use it.  Works great, if you dont' mind taking a carb down many times.
