Title: Re: petcock Post by Chopped on 04/05/09 at 08:43:26 HAHAHA... the easiest way to replace the petcock is to replace the tank with a harley tank... petcocks are a dime a dozen and tanks are easy to come by too! |
Title: Re: petcock Post by luken on 04/05/09 at 09:45:41 A new tanks...thats an Idea. Would a sportster tank fit? What models would work? A bigger tank would be awsome 8-) I'm guessing there are some photos in the picture thread? |
Title: Re: petcock Post by Chopped on 04/05/09 at 10:27:45 I think most tanks require a bit of fabrication, but not to much depending on your level of skills! I have seen several pics of savages with Sportster peanut tanks! |

And when my front brake pads wear out I'll fix it by getting some harley forks and new front wheel! Ha ha, just messin' with ya. Good job on the tank mod. |
Title: Re: petcock Post by Savage_Amusement on 04/05/09 at 12:02:02 Only limited by who you know and how much extra cash you have laying around lol. Something can always be fabricated to work. OH yeah and poop on Harley for their hard to find 13/16" NPT stuff. I live in a rather large city and couldn't find one thing local to work with my petcock. I had to search online and ended up getting the new weld in bung from justified defiance. |
Title: Re: petcock Post by odvelasc on 04/05/09 at 19:36:12 I just happen to have a spare OEM petcock lying around that i dont need. Let me know. I can ship it Wednesday. |
Title: Re: petcock Post by diamond jim on 04/06/09 at 05:18:34 So why do the stock petcocks fail? Is it a plastic on metal design issue where the plastic wears out prematurely? |
Title: Re: petcock Post by bill67 on 04/06/09 at 05:41:00 They have to be lubed and used, other wise they get tight,I've never had one fail.Use some Sea Foam in the gas that lubes from the inside, and lube the outside too. |
Title: Re: petcock Post by Jay on 04/07/09 at 22:36:25 I went with the Raptor and haven't had any problems with it. I think it was something like $12. Just gotta remember to turn it off. |
Title: Re: petcock Post by BurnPgh on 04/08/09 at 14:39:10 $12!? I've been had. $26 from bikebandit. |

I could be wrong. I pulled the number out of a very foggy brain. I just remember it not being too much. I can't even remember now where I ordered it from, and the box it came in is long gone. Not having to worry over the petcock...priceless. |
