I was hoping some of you could check out this picture of my drive belt as it sits on the rear sprocket and tell me if it looks like its aligned OK. To my eyes the belt looks like it could be out of alignment slightly, judging by the larger gap on the right side of the sprocket, but being a relative virgin to bikes I don't want to mess with it if this space is normal. The belt itself is in good condition and the tension is right on, and the bike rides great.

Does it squeek?

Then don't worry about it.

Otherwise adjust it.

No squeaks, so I will leave it be. I am a firm believer in if it 'ain't broke don't fix it". Just wondering though, how would you adjust side to side position of the pulley?

You don't the belt will run side to side even when rear wheel in in line.

Yup,...that rear sprocket is rubber mounted and has bouilt in wiggle. You align the rear wheel and let the sprocket follow along.

As said, sprocket is mounted with rubber dampers.
But follows the adjustment of the wheel somewhat.
Mine had a little squeek after I fiddled with it trying to get it in the center. Quarter turn this way and that and it squeeked. Jacked the rear off the ground, spun it, adjusted the left one just a shade tighter (the belt was a little loose) belt went into the center and it stopped squeeking. Thanked my lucky stars and haven't looked at it since.

So... unless you have some wear/squeeking/burr up somewhere... leave it be. ;D

No squeeking, some people should be so lucky. ::)

my o6 looks eaxctly like that..
squeeks, screams,wails...
at lower temps had the dealer "adjust" at last service....
where i live i can change elevation (+/- 5000 feet)(and temp) within 40 miles...
chain conversion coming as soon as Xtended warrranty runs out....

Here's a cheapie way to align the rear wheel:

It goes without saying that you can't trust the index marks on the swingarm.

I used this the compare the distance from the swingarm pivot to the middle of the rear axle on both sides of the wheel:
