I have a piece of innertube rubber between the hanger and the handlebar to protect the handlebar.  Couldn't find a nut to fit, but the broken piece from the stock hanger worked.

That's what I'm going to do.

Will it last as long as the real thing?

I'm thinking it would, just wanted to check.(Due to going on that trip soon)

I like cheaper :)

Oh no.....   It is cheap thin steel, and the hole on the end is too small and needs to be drilled or filed out.  First one lasted LA to OKC and back and a few months more.

The good thing is that you can get one and get the mirror back on in less than a day.  I'm in Los Angeles -- I NEED both mirrors.  (the bad thing is that once the mirror is back on you lose incentive to get the proper part.)

In the junk box, one of the brackets for mounting windshield:

Happens to be the perfect size to hold a mirror:

(OK... I couldn't find the brackets in that mess of a garage so I had to by a replacement bracket set.)
