Decompression solenoid aka big round thingy that goes click when the starter button is pressed. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1229.jpg That big black rubber cover hids the plunger. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1235.jpg Go ahead pull it off. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1230.jpg Pull the actuator body on the solenoid (lousy photo) and measure the end length on the shaft. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1232.jpg Loosen lock nuts on lever, adjust cable at the lever to make measurement at solenoid 3-5 MM. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1199.jpg |

This is the gap under the decompression lever cam and the exhaust valve rocker arm when I set the solenoid shaft to 4 MM. The engine is at TDC on the compression stroke by using the valve timing mark and watching the exhaust valves. http://suzukisavage.com/images/uploaded/Decomp_1276.jpg |
Title: Re: Decomp Solenoid Adjustment Post by verslagen1 on 04/06/09 at 18:51:36 What happens when you push the starter button... 1st click is the decomp (a little less the a half second) the decomp kicks open the exhaust valves. 2nd click is starter relay, the starter should be spinning like a top now. When trouble shooting, lean to the left and eye ball the decomp lever. what's important is the decomp goes click and that lever moves, means it's getting enough juice. also a tight decomp will make it hard to start too. a loose one will make the starter stall, which means it isn't re-leaving the compression stroke. keep it adjusted in between. |

Title: Re: Decomp Solenoid Adjustment Post by Ikarus on 12/24/22 at 11:01:54 Try again thank you. I got her to start. I think it need to get through some bad fuel or something. But i still don't know about the battery or those wires. |
