Title: Rebuilding Carb
Post by Bill D on 04/26/06 at 11:11:16

My 87 Savage sat for about 6 years and i would like to rebuild the carb.  Does anyone have info on getting the dyno jet rebuild kits?

Hi Bill. I'm not aware that Dynojet makes carb rebuild kits. The jet kit mentioned often is not a rebuild kit but a set of jets and needles - not what you need to rebuild your carb.

I imagine you could get one from Suzuki.

You need to disassemble your carb entirely and soak your metal parts in some real carb cleaner such as the Gumout in the vat with parts basket that I buy at the auto parts store. Don't put any rubber or plastic parts in the carb cleaner - only metal.

for the most part, carb rebuild kits are a rip off.  Get a can or two of carb cleaner and spray it down good.  make sure all of the passages are open.  Get a new float gasket from your local dealer for about $5.  Make sure the rubber uh, don't know what it's called, thing has no tears. replace otherwise...  reinstall and ride!
