Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by Reelthing on 01/31/06 at 18:55:52 Lancer, what is that a stock s40 seat? |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by Starlifter on 01/31/06 at 19:34:30 Yes, it looks like the stock seat on my 05 S40. Having said that, I must add that I am very happy with this stock seat. |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by lancer on 02/01/06 at 08:16:18 I thought that it was stock. I will take it apart, carve out a section and insert a gel pad. I have been playing with several variations on my stock two piece seat, and other seats which I have cut up and made to fit the Savage, but I have not been happy with these half-step versions. |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by 650-rider on 02/01/06 at 14:21:16 Lancer - I was thinking about adding gel to my 2002 seat, but I don't understand how you staple the fabric back on - there is no "other side" for the stapler to use to bend over the staples. I guess there is some upholstery tool that is used? |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by Savage_Rob on 02/01/06 at 14:42:40 The staples don't bend over. They just go into the seat pan. |

Yep, you just fire those little suckers in there. They hold very well actually. |

Like one of these - it's a t-50 arrow - works pretty good - just be careful to use the correct length staples - http://www.coastaltool.com/a/ab/arro/images/t50.jpg |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by Ed_L. on 02/01/06 at 18:02:47 Ah yes, the standard Arrow stapler. I used one to staple some sheepskin over the stock seat cover, they work great just press it tight against the seat pan so the staples go all the way in. |
Title: Re: Bid Notice Post by Reelthing on 02/01/06 at 18:53:24 got heavy duty one i use to knock down stainless staples through carpet into treated lumber on boat trailers but it's pretty tough on the hand after 100 or so - saw a guy using an electric one the other day - that's cheating! |
