Title: 1987 Carb question Post by theikeman on 12/21/05 at 21:40:16 I understand that the main jet on an 87 is 155, if I want to run a pod filter and a very low restrictive muffler, do I need to change anything? Don't want backfires or burned valves. Thanks for the help Ike |
Title: Re: 1987 Carb question Post by Reelthing on 12/21/05 at 21:48:00 You know I think the "book" would say may one size - 157.5 - but seems to me you really should just throttle/chop and read the plug after you make the changes - do the plug door mod - or leave the head chrome cover off until you done - couple of new $1.50 Champion plugs |
Title: Re: 1987 Carb question Post by theikeman on 12/26/05 at 19:37:02 Thanks, Where did you get your rotor drilled? Thanks Ike |
Title: Re: 1987 Carb question Post by Reelthing on 12/27/05 at 03:06:46 the part number was a EBC md3017LS - can remember which of these parts houses I ordered it from - normally just check on several - I see if I can find which one it was - a word of caution - if you going to ride a lot it does matter but if the bike is going to sit a lot - this rotor seems to flash rust fairly quickly at least around a salt water environment - works a fair bit better than stock - next up grade is a stainless brake line that is waiting to go on. |
Title: Re: 1987 Carb question Post by theikeman on 12/27/05 at 19:37:17 How about the white spacer mod, is it required on an 87? Thanks |
Title: Re: 1987 Carb question Post by SAMM on 12/27/05 at 21:28:47 I just did the spacer mod on my 1987 and it really changed it for the better and no more backfire on decel |
