Title: you decide.
Post by sluggo on 10/04/05 at 13:51:45

just a friendly rivalry here,

torque has proclaimed himself the bobber king on the strength of this photo

http://www.bikepics.com/pics/pics/suzuki-savage-98-bikepics-426255.jpg

i personally think thumper is a better looking bobber, that with the removed signals,  springer seat, 50's tail light, and of course the chrome fenders.

http://www.bikepics.com/pics/pics/suzuki-savage-04-bikepics-348393.jpg

so who's got the better looking "bobber", and the title of "bobber king"

Title: Re: you decide.
Post by Dan on 10/04/05 at 14:11:42

I won't go as far as to make an official statement and make someone upset, but I must admit the spring seat has a much more appropriate look to that "bobber"!  Nice touch!  Pretty comfy?

Thanks Sluggo!  ;D

Yeah,  I got pulled over today for having a broken tail light. He didn't like my LP, cherry bomb, lack of a horn, and was surprised I had a headlight...  "What kind of bike was it?" as he's writing the ticket...

Back on track:

Your's is definitely a bobber...  pretty d@mn sweet!

when did i sign up for this? just kidding! but i am
redoing my entire bike right now.its going to be candy apple red, frame and all i am redesigning the highway pegs,im going too put the rear fender back on.
put a clutch in.polished the engine.

so i might not even be a bobber anymore!we'll see if i like the red paint, if i dont its gonna be gunmetal and full bobber,no lights or signals, but i gotta b!tch now and she wants to go for a ride, so i need the rear fender for now anyway  :-X

P.S.-bobbers dont have passenger pegs or rear fenders

8)I'm a huge fan of the Bobber style ... and both Bikes look great! Gotta agree with Tripple Seven though ... Sportster muff's would make em look even better!
sluggo ... I love that chrome front fender ... it's off of an old GN450 right? Was it a straight bolt-on?
Keep up the good work guys!

both front and rear were from the gn. front was almost a straight bolt on. i made some little brackets that are hidden.  on the gn the rear was half chrome and half plastic. the plastic part was hidden by seat.  i just rolled the chrome half  back farther and the holes pretty much lined up.  only about a half an hour work.  now propably got at least 100 hrs of staring time in though  ;D

i'm going with the trapp, and carb mods, well i keep saying that. lets see what happens over the winter.   i had seat repairs today. darn 30 year old bicycle springs on seat broke. it's going to sit on the frame for a few miles, see if the ole tail bone can handle the hardtail feel.

No way!  You're jokin right?
Lotzbub got it right.
Tain't no three-spoke flat blk wheel gonna look good on that one. (no offence Daz)
Not when he's got that sweet chrome fatty laced back there.

Title: Re: you decide.
Post by Savage_Rob on 10/07/05 at 18:29:35

Actually, what I'd like would be the platter-type aluminum disc wheels reminiscent of a FatBoy.  I would love to have those front and back on my Savage.

Title: Re: you decide.
Post by sluggo on 10/07/05 at 18:32:42

the only exceptable wheels on a bobber are spoked.   8)

painted, chromed, powder coated doesn't matter.

just go ask indian larry,  oh yeah ya can't.  :(

Title: Re: you decide.
Post by babbalou on 10/07/05 at 23:26:09

Lotzbub's Savage is amazing. I've never seen a back wheel like that on a Savage. All the details work very well visually. Looks like a very expensive showbike, which brings me to another thought... How expensive would it be for Suzuki to make a bike like that? Victory is selling LOTS of custom bikes for mucho $$$ & Honda is now making a ton of custom accessories for the VTX line. Seems like there might be a market for people who want a great looking custom bike but don't want to spend $15,000+ for it.

Title: Re: you decide.
Post by PerrydaSavage on 10/08/05 at 03:02:36

:oWow lotzbub's Savage is "da Bomb"!!! That fatty rear tire is very cool!
Interesting comments babbalou ... that's an area I'd love to see 'zuki move into ...

Back when the LS650 came out I took the GS750 in for tires and maintanence and sat on a new LS650 w/ the same paint as Lotsbubz  1st or 2nd year?)and loved the "fit". Everyone was going away from spokes in the 80's and I prefered the "retro look" then.  :)
Depends how handy you are and how much you can do yourself. A bike like that could be done for 1/2 that, including the purchase of a clean low miles stocker. You must be able to do most mods yourself, you take it apart do the mods and reassemble.
Say 2500 for a bike, 1500 for pro paint & coatings, ( Lotsbub's appears to be Suzuki original Candy red w/ 1st gen, graphic; my fav) 2000 for parts, 1000 for chrome. You can reshuffle the budget to fit your needs.

I love that gold flake look. A long time ago (way longer than I want to count back), I saw a checker cab (don't laugh it actually looked cool when completed) done in gold flake with about 50 coats of clear (back before clear coat). The paint looked like the color was at the bottom of a lake. You couldn't hardly look at the car in the sun it was so bright. Had a chevy nova that was painted gold metal flake, but not quite the paint job the checker got.

Just wondering... ???

if people are given enough time,u can easily copy a licence plate. ok..say u rob a bank with a stolen tag,the cops see that it is stolen(or dosent match the car).

but if u get a "clean" tag,the cops won't know any different. :-X

OK, Roger that...

It's just weird for me, as local bank robbers would think of a bike as a runaway option only if no other wheeled option is available...

Thanks,

Seat will be sent off for covering soon I hope. Altho it will be a very thin cover of leather or PVC, im probably going the PVC route as it lasts longer, and lets face it, unless you sniff my seat, you wont really tell by looking at it ;-) LMAO

Ducati forks, yokes and bars, including control gears, and a Cagiva Mito front Wheel with Brembro four pot calipers... I just thought the braking was a bit lame on the old Savage, sorry guys, no dis-respect intended, LMAO
