Title: Has anyone moved their battery?
Post by jcbass7 on 10/04/05 at 12:17:35

Has anyone moved their battery from its current location? possibly to make space for a different air intake set up.  I have seen a picture where the airbox has been removed and the bike looks hallow except for the batter and the chrom cover, i wonder if there are any options of moving it to change the look of your bike..
thanks

This is my first bike without a small trunk/holdall under the seat, and it's a real nuinsance!   >:(
I had toyed with the idea of moving the battery (and t's an awfully small battery) but there's precious little space to start with, so... how about a 'fake' toolbag under the headlight, and fit the battery there?
OR
Behind the seat, inside a leather hoder, clamped to the sissy bar... ::)

Just a question for those who removed air box:

Where did you put electrical cables???

Anyway, if you find a solution...tell me!!!  ;D

I had a full trunk on her but a .50 cal ammo can does the trick for me.

Torque, I tried, but the lightning bolts shooting out from my ears lured oncoming traffic to think I was a speed camera...  ;D

Still, this bike has less space than a Vespa !!!  :'(

I have seen someone before in an earlier post relocate their battery under the bike somehow.  The biggest danger would be speed bumps and if it cracked ur battery.  Its a kewl design because it looked so clean and empty :)

YAY I FOUND IT!
http://people.freenet.de/kamikaze_pirats/UmbauSavage.htm  Heck i think its a great idea if it had more protection. AMAZING what u can find if u do a SEARCH!

That was one reason I bought the Odyssey battery when I replaced mine - so that I could relocate it easier if I decided to later.  It can be mounted at various angles, on its side, etc. without danger of spillage.  It also has a steel casing.  I haven't been that industrious yet though.

Yep.  It's been done....

This is the picture that inspired my own modification...(unfortunately, the owner later sold this bike and has disappeared from riding)

I like the painted frame and the way he adapted the stock battery mount for other uses.

In comparison, I chopped the battery mount and moved the stock box 1 1/2" inches.
