Title: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Paladin on 09/09/05 at 13:53:34 Looks like a go for me. I intend to hit the Hill Street Cafe at 1104 Foothill Blvd, La Canada, at or about 9AM tomorrow. After a hearty breakfast, around 10ish, I'll be heading north and east on California Highway 2, the Angels Crest Highway. Will have lunch 75 miles later at the McDonald's in Phelan; or maybe not. Anyone who wishes to join me in the ride can meet me in the morning. |

Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Joel on 09/09/05 at 18:26:50 Sorry Paladin, I can't make it. My wife and I need to pick up a Jeep cherokee we just bought. Saturday morning is the only time we can make it. |

Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by PerrydaSavage on 09/10/05 at 02:42:01 8)Paladin old buddy, I really, really wish that I could be there with my LS650 for that Ride ... man that'd be so cool. Our annual Toys for Tots charity Ride is scheduled for tomorrow, which I always take part in, but is likely to be called on account of rain in the forecast ... bummer ... :( |
Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Paladin on 09/10/05 at 14:13:30 Joel -- just as well you missed it as the road is closed about 26 miles in. Arrived Hill Street Cafe, La Canada, California a few minutes after 9am. Hash and two eggs, sunny side up, not runny, O'Brian potatoes, sourdough toast, coffee, $11.15. A bit on the expensive side, but cooked to prefection, good flavor, with the coffee hot. Excelent service to boot, coffee refilled just as I emptied the cup. Check delivered as I finished the meal, no waiting. 18% tip. It was overcasted most of the way, and cool. This is good as it makes the leather jacket comfortable. A fair amount of bikers, but not at all crowded. A few pictures at http://savage.andruschak.net/Twisties/ Will rename and make webpage later. Right now I'm just finishing up lunch at a McDonalds on Sunset Blvd -- they have WiFi access and I brought the Laptop. Will post again once I get home.... p.s. I was the only Thumper on the whole highway. |

Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by PerrydaSavage on 09/11/05 at 03:09:50 8)mornin' Paladin ... glad you enjoyed your Ride ... the pics were nice too! Wife's Dad lives in Fontana Ca. ... that far from you? She also has a friend who lives in La Canada ... fellow by the name of Steve Priest, ex. of British 70's Rockers the Sweet ... |
Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Paladin on 09/11/05 at 05:38:50 Fontana is in the Inland Empire, about 60 miles east of me. La Canada is 30 miles north. If you pull up http://maps.google.com and switch to a hybred view you can see that, except for the mountains, it is city all the way. |
Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Joel on 09/11/05 at 22:19:07 We need to get together and ride somewhere before i move up above fresno (10/31). I just got back from riding to fresno and back this weekend. My wife and I rode up on the savage, and she is driving the jeep back down tommorow. I think i need a windshield, if I am going to ride for 5 hours again. |

Title: Re: Angels Crest - 9/10/05 Post by Paladin on 09/12/05 at 07:50:14 That Joel is still alive testifies as to how forgiving of a wife he has. Joel, drop a dime on me if you want a ride buddy. I'm quite flexible. (Acutally my schedule is flexible, I'm starting to creak alot as I move.) |
