Title: Wish I Could Bottle That Feeling!
Post by Susan on 08/25/05 at 15:13:10

Just in from an amazing ride and been thinking about how cool it would be to bottle that delicious, hard-to-describe feeling I get when I'm riding. For me, its something like:

The wind, the road, the twisties
Grinning all the way
Feeling lucky to be me

The light, the trees, the path
Living in the moment
Feeling free and so alive

How does a great ride make you feel?

Our Little Susie is a Poet!
Wish I could express myself that way, the best way to describe the way a good ride makes me feel is
"Two Wheel Therapy". Keeps me sane,  more or less

Yeah.  I saw where someone wrote recently that you don't see too many bikes parked outside a shrink's office.  Makes sense to me.

getting tattooed...
shooting a firearm...
cruising the open ocean...
and riding a bike...
all the same rush to me

Hadn't thought of the open ocean comparison but you are totally right!

8)For me it's the smells (ya don't get in a cage ...), the drone of the engine (best music ever!) and living in the moment (something the "modern" world hardly ever lets ya do ...)! Learnin' to Ride has been the BEST thing I've ever takin' up and the only thing that has ever made me feel "cool"!

The feeling I get is second to none
The wind in my face, the stress all gone
I open the throttle and cruise down the street
Its surely a feeling no-one can beat
The true sense of freedom can rarely be gained
Except when I’m riding the savage I’ve tamed
So all in all I’ll have to say next
The feeling I get is better than……..
;)

Hope you don't mind if I quote one who I think is a master:

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. "

Robert Frost in case anyone didn't recognize it. That one chokes me up every time. That's what I feel like every morning when I back the bike out past my truck.

Riding just makes me feel "right", don't know how else to express it. Susan has come as close as possible to putting that feeling in words. Ride Safe

I have to agree with Perry; it's being connected to your surroundings.  In a cage, you are cut off - isolated.  In a cage, the destination is the purpose; on a bike, the trip is the purpose.  My wife is one that doesn't get it.  She thinks travel's only purpose is to get to the destination.  I told her that's akin to saying that the purpose of life is death.  Back to the smells... one of my favorite things is riding past an area where I get the scents of fresh-cut hay and honeysuckle.

8)Amen Rob (BTW my "better half" doesn't get it either ...); love the smell of late-summer flowers n' cut grass ... my fave though is the smell of the ocean while Riding along the coast!

Dateline Detroit, 1964.  Riding home on my Honda Sport 50 past the Stroh's Brewery.  INHALE!!!  Great!!!  (Especially at 18.) Even better than past Wonder Bread's bakery.  We're talking of memories that last a lifetime.

Oh man!  The bakery in downtown Lansing was the best to ride by.  Great memory Paladin.

Well, since we can't bottle that feeling, I'll settle for that feeling in a bottle  ;D

It's Friday and it's Beer Thirty.
