Title: Bastille Day
Post by Savage_Rob on 07/14/05 at 04:57:25

I 've heard you folks in Kanuckistan also celebrate the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution.  If that's correct, Happy Bastille Day to you!  Personally, I'll take it as an important day in history and a great Rush song.

Well, Bastille Day isn't celebrated in this part of Kanuckistan ... probably in Quebec (as it is primarily a French-speaking province) ... and I know for sure that it is celebrated in the French colony of St. Pierre et Miquelon off the coast of Newfoundland ...
Thanks for the "Happy" anyway!

I wondered if it might be mostly Quebec...

Yeah, It's something only the Quebecers care about. Here in Ontario nobody knows about it.
Kanuckistan... never heard that before.

I've only been to B.C.  When I was in the Navy, we pulled into Vancouver several times (once for Expo 86) and anchored out in Nanoose Harbor and took liberty boats into Nanaimo a couple of times.  I really liked that little town.

Hey Bentwheel. I didn't know you were from Canada also!

cool

Her in New Brunswick, Canada's only "officially" bilingual province, Bastille day is generally not observed, although i am sure a few of the french communities have their own little low key celebrations.

Personally I forgot all about it, and have not heard much mention of it, in years.

It is so cool when our American friends point out History relating to our country,   that we have forgotten.  And here we sometimes think we are insignificant to the USA...Kudos to you Savage Rob for being so sharp! I am impressed!.....Kanuckistan!..ROFLMAO!

Bluejeans once spoke of a battle between New Brunswick and Maine, that was started by lumberjacks, if I remember correctly...LMAO.....toooo funny.

Cheers

Michael
