Title: "AUTHENTIC SURVEILANCE FOOTAGE"
Post by sluggo on 06/27/05 at 00:42:47

authorities today released this actual surveilance photo of the so called "BOBBER BANDIT", wanted in a string of brazen daylight robberies in the Columbia Basin. The Bobber Bandit would strike petstores in post dawn attacks, demanding cash, squeeky toy's, and the release of penned up animals with the exception of the snakes. If you see the Bobber Bandit, do not try to apprehend, call your local authorities.

Whats the best way to get the back-end to look like that?  Also how do you keep it from bottoming out?

As a breeder of that lovely feline species ill just say, If you try to capture that devil, first use a lot of catnip to incapasitate him  ;D

i'm not so sure this was the best way, but it;s the way i did it.

first i stripped off all the siglights.  i then had a "high ho silver away" incident that beat it up pretty bad.  it wheelied over and rode on the rear fender for about 100 feet before it flipped over twice.   so i wouldnt really advise that as the starting point.

i pretty much fell into the fender set up. i had the original off and out to have it "bobbed" but the wx turned and i want to go out. i ran to the junk pile grabbed the rear off an old machine, well the rest is history.  i fabed so front mounts for the front and they look great.

in a nut shell unhook the wires, remove the four bolts holding fender  in place, viola. throw on  a bigger tire  pick the fender and seat you want.  you can go with fender struts and attach it to the lower wing arm. or attach it the to upper and gage clearance.  electronics are mounted on fender in virurtually the same place.  there is some sheet metal cosmetics i'm still working on.  well that and a baseball sized dent in the tank.

i've seen alot of older machines with chrome fenders in the junk piles, just look around should be easy to find.

i've actually made more back in parts, than i've spent on the "chop".  got a few things left to off set the paint next winter.

I notice the rear pegs are down!

I put my feet on 'em too.

I can't do that on the VStar, they're too high up.  I miss doing that.

However I can move my foot pads up about 4" for only $70.  Sure beats forwards for a Savage.
