Thanks, Iridium combined w/ latest LED lights would allow for other touring accessory connections.

So, is anybody running an iridium plug in their Savage, and would you say it is a noticeable improvement?

I am but I honestly can't say for sure because I installed it when I rejetted the first time and installed my MAC.

Lower voltage requirements? So how are you going to achieve that? Put in a crappy coil? Or a zener? That info is useless since you're not going to be able to reduce voltage to the plug, and if you could, as Greg mentioned, whatcha gonna do with it?

What I read, or at least need to read from that is that the same amount of voltage, the Iridium plug creates a stronger spark. I assume that from the chart, but that's only my inference.

I got the NGK iridium plug a couple of months ago but I was tinkering with the jetting at the time so I don't know in itself how much difference it made. I did read a thread awhile back by someone saying they noticed a small improvement in throttle response & power. One nice thing is that it didn't need to be indexed. The gap faces the intake valves without having to add washers.

I am no engineer nor physicist, but this is the way it was explained to me. Since a lower voltage is required to fire the spark, the spark kernel builds earlier than in a conventional plug, is exposed to the air/fuel mixture longer (we are talking micro-seconds here) and therefore a more complete burn and subsequent power.

I have run an iridium plug for about 5,000 miles now with good results. I can say that before I switched to iridium I was getting carbon fouling on the plug. Not so with the iridium. I run nothing but iridiums in my Camaro and Azteks with great results.

Sorry, I don't have my manual handy - is it necessary to index the sparkplug? I had always heard that this was a "getting that last one percent" sort of trick that wasn't really a big deal. Does it help much?
