I've heard of people breaking it even - on mine both the '02 and '95 are just finger tight

I agree with reelthing Finger tight is all you need these engines have very very low oil pressure finger tight will keep the oil where it should be as long as you wipe the cap of to make sure it seats. 8)

I always put the fill plug on just finger tight - but as tight as I can get it with bare fingers.  No problems and no leakage so far.

I'll second that. And that the cap draws itself down tighter over time. Can be a real pain to break loose.

For me, it was just a big crescent wrench (more or less horizontal to the ground) and a bit of a bump on the end of the handle to break the stiction free. Presto.

I broke mine recently, sheared the whole tab off.  No tools should be required to put the cap back on.  I learned this the hard way.  It was torqued too much and I tried to take it off vice grips that were too small.  I used a liberal amount of penetrating oil and vice grips on the whole cap and eventually got it off.  Replacement and gasket from the dealership is $8 and change.
