Title: Electric Issue - dead short somewhere? Post by FunandFrugal on 05/29/26 at 06:02:28 Hi everyone, I am looking for some troubleshooting advice for an electrical issue with my 2013 LS650 (2,400 miles). The battery currently reads 13.4 volts, but when I turn the key to the "on" position, the bike appears to have no power. The only exceptions are the rear flashers, which work perfectly. There is no power to the front lights, horn, or starter. On my last ride a few weeks ago to a local store, the bike ran perfectly. But my first symptoms appeared when I attempted to restart the bike at the store. With the bike in neutral (green light on), kickstand up, and clutch in, the neutral light went dim when I pressed the starter, and nothing happened. It eventually started on the third attempt after I toggled the kill switch. However, yesterday I tried to start it again and it seems to have a dead short. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check? |

rear flashers working but front dead... check the connectors to the front controls, you might have to remove the tank, you might need to clean all the connections in those connectors. I'd remove and connect several times. Quote:
Seems to support upper conclusion but it may also be the kill switch needing cleaning. |

Title: Re: Electric Issue - dead short somewhere? Post by FunandFrugal on 05/29/26 at 14:42:21 Your suggestion was dead-on accurate! After removing the tank, I found that the connector closest to the horn was completely disconnected. All the other connectors were tight, so that was the only issue. My bike is running perfectly again. I can’t thank you enough for the help—great job! |
