What do the results from last night mean?

1) clearly when Trump isn’t on the ballot, enthusiasm for Republicans is low. That doesn’t bode well for mid-terms.

2) the shut-down hurt Republicans, no doubt about it. Especially in Virginia where the Democrats voted in a guy who wished his opponent’s kids dead. VA has many federal employees and they overlooked that to elect him.

3) NYC? No idea. Is it an outlier or is the turn to Democratic-socialism a response to MAGA? And how will that play elsewhere? I think there was a candidate in Minneapolis and another in Portland but they lost.

Trump’s biggest challenge is the upcoming year. It could very well be that Trump is what I said about him: a temporary reprieve in our nation’s march to socialism and eventually the end of the USA.
