The engine was basically unchanged since 1908. It was the first water cooled two stroke motorcycle with an independent oiling system, and one of the first with a kick start.

Never seen one , a real mind blower even for the 50s.The first water buffalo. Absolutely could be a centerfold in some moto porn mag !  8-)

They were always  a special motorcycle and ahead of their time. They were not built for the average Joe, but for the well healed motorcyclists who did not mind waiting for their Scott to be built.  They cost 2x the price a BSA or Triumph or more.

 My father bought a second hand one shortly after being demobbed after WW2, he rode it to Italy on a touring holiday.   I remember him telling me that when he pulled up for fuel at a gas station all the mechanics stopped work to come and take a look at it.    He said they all wore white overalls  :)
