Title: Main Fuse Blow
Post by dino60 on 02/28/25 at 18:34:47

Hi guys,

My 2014 S40 keeps blowing main fuses!

1. I switch the engine on- neutral light comes on.
2. Press starter button- decompressor comes on, solenoid engages, engine turns then runs.
3. Three seconds later- Main fuse (20A) blows.

I have replaced the fuse several times to no avail.

It blows the main fuse exactly the same way every time!

I've gone over the harness but cannot see any obvious burns/shorts etc.

Has anybody experienced this before?

Would love to hear from you!

Thanks Savages.

As I recall there are 2 fuses , both 20 amp. One for decomp & one for everything else. Does it die when fuse blows ?  If so you have a challenge to locate the short. The ignition switch is know to fail and the connectors under fuel tank are know come apart. Good luck , don’t give up you can fix this !

If it only blows when running then it has to do with something used when engine is running, check the stator wires to ground

Thanks Ruttly,

Yeah, when the main fuses goes the whole machine dies.
And yeah, got a short somewhere alright.

Thanks man, let you know how it goes.
