Power off the lights, those things are near invisible. Also I'm not sure they have authorization to shoot in the air at those. A FLIR tracker drone could do it, bit there must be a reason they aren't committing the easy fix to it. I assume, much like the Chinese balloon, since they have no armament we are probably data-pulling off them like crazy. Finding the channels, seeing if we can decrypt them etc. I'd much rather observe a functioning drone than assess a grounded one. Also drones near or even landing on Naval/Coast Guard ships has been going on a while. There are making the news. |

We read here about satellites being disrupted, internet cables on the seabed being torn apart, malicious attacks on all kinds of infrastructure, attacks on military and government computer and communication systems. Violations of airspace and territorial waters have become normal instead of exceptional. But there are also more and more messages from the government that we must prepare for emergencies and for war. The standard message is that the peace as we knew it is over. It is starting to become the talk of the day here and I notice that people are spending money more and more carefully. It is very clear that the Russians' distrust of the West has turned into an active hostile attitude. Russia has become a war machine. |

I think the real issue is this event is in the news while in reality this is happening all the time. My personal Drone HUB for checking property lines picks up a few a week flying over, they are so high you cant hear them. These drones are low, and lighted - they want to be seen. I wouldn't send in military mitigation for them either. If there is a ship offshore, and I don't believe there is, but IF that is true, then putting planes on station and waiting for them to go back would settle it. I don't believe it either. They fly low and slow with lights activated? That's what Iran is going to do? |

I think there has been a Decree that the Regular Guy isn't supposed to be flying after dark. So, someone is doing it. Reports vary. How big are they? It's time for some action. The people deserve to not be worried. The goobs are supposed to fix crap like this. Not knowing is one thing. Not trying to find out is quite another. |

This does not mean that no human or organization in the US are helpless to detect the frequency. The idea that slow moving lighted drones are being used to secretly map the US is implausible. It's like secret agents infiltrating your business with trucks lighting up the doors as they walk in slowly with flashlights. These drones want to be seen, most likely want to be in the news. |

Why attract that kind of attention when it could be done with no lights on, and most humans wouldn't notice them. |

And I don’t think they’re military mapping drones because doing that at night would be tough and besides, you could do the same with satellites. Have you looked at the detail in the publicly available Google Earth? And that’s the publicly available version, imagine what level of detail they can really get to. Is John Kirby lying when he says they’re not military and while they’re investigating, he says they’re not that concerned? I feel like one will crash and fall sooner or later if they keep this up and maybe something will come out. But it does bring up the bigger question about of the dangers of drones. I still have to believe the Secret Service has defense mechanisms because if you wanted to attack a public figure, you could 100 drones and have them pre-targeted, and all coming in a couple of seconds apart, carrying a small explosive. That would be very difficult to stop. |

And that’s the publicly available version, imagine what level of detail they can really get to. If you look at a video of how a self-driving car's sensor tech works, then it should be easy to see how accurate a Google Earth mapping car can be in that regard. Drones would be more useful for hard to get to areas. |

The idea that they are Sniffing for radiation, as someone suggested, doesn't pass the Sniff test. If that is what they were doing they would be lined up, like people searching for a skier trapped under snow. They would be organized and running grid patterns. |
