Title: Anyone measured the engine dimensions? Post by faffi on 12/03/24 at 15:03:23 Hi! I wonder if anyone knows how tall the engine is? Useful to know in order to learn if a more traditional frame can house the Savage engine. |

I would prefer two left feet and a thumb of rule, actually ;D Perhaps I should have asked the question differently; have anyone fitted a Savage engine to a "standard" frame, like that of a GS400 or similar? I would expect not, but if possible, that would have been ideal. Another option would be a frame that already houses a big single, like that of the DR650. The reason for my question is that I love the looks and the gentle tune of the Savage engine, but the frame leaves a lot to be desired for me, as I would like to have the engine in a standard-ish frame, or make a good scrambler/tracker. Doing so based on the stock frame would never obtain the right look without serious modification. |

Post by faffi on 12/04/24 at 13:35:42 Benelli Mojave frame http://https://www.advrider.com/f/attachments/right_rear-jpg.2186665/ BSA B50 http://https://www.advrider.com/f/attachments/bazuka-jpg.2703564/ Northon Featherbed http://https://www.dotheton.com/index.php?attachments/47upgraded-exhaust-2013-jpg.236553/ Apparently, the LS650 engine also fit the BSA A7/A10 frame. So there are options. |

Title: Re: Anyone measured the engine dimensions? Post by faffi on 12/05/24 at 11:24:36 A sensible tip. But I think it is easier to modify ergonomics that change the frame, which will also likely demand a new tank etc. Or perhaps I should just import an ST400 and fit it with a 650 engine :) But that will be a very costly bike, likely closer to 10k USD. |
