Title: Re: 11/11/11 Post by bobert_FSO on 11/12/24 at 05:30:43 You guys are pathetic. What started out as thank you to our vets, turned into a bunch of political potshots beginning on the 2nd post. Typical for this forum. Can't have a decent discussion about anything. Usually no facts, just links to some inflammatory website with no or few comments from the poster, then the insults begin. Eeyore, you seem to be the only voice willing to actually try to discuss something. Zeven, you also seem to be willing to discuss things. This is why I don't participate here anymore. I consider all posts here for entertainment purposes only. |
Title: Re: 11/11/11 Post by Eegore on 11/12/24 at 06:19:39 I'd expect this response in the Tall Table section. I imagine the Cafe would, maybe, have gotten less griping. Good post though. It is a human opinion that this is a good post. This post has been an opinion. |
Title: Re: 11/11/11 Post by zevenenergie on 11/12/24 at 07:03:32 https://11.be/ I misunderstood. I googled 11-11-11 and came across the above mentioned site and that you were fighting for good causes. I would like to say that here in Holland we still honor the American veterans of the 2nd World War. The graves here and the monuments are in top condition. And among the population the gratitude still lives, also among the young. This is because in schools it is still extensively told how things went here in the 2nd World War and how the Allies liberated us. http://https://i.imgur.com/eMLrIm7m.png The graves are maintained by people who have "adopted" a soldier. And there are foundations that manage the grave sites. |
Title: Re: 11/11/11 Post by WebsterMark on 11/12/24 at 08:00:05 My two older brothers are World War II reenactors, and about 15 years ago, their group went to France on June 6. They actually slept on the beach and participated in a parade that went through several of the towns that were liberated that month. There were still some people who were actually there, and remembered it, and they came up, shaking their hands, thanking them, the old ladies kissed them, and showered them with all kinds of food and drink. |
Title: Re: 11/11/11 Post by zevenenergie on 11/12/24 at 09:09:17 These are images of the liberation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ub7lBz4wyE I still know the stories of my uncles and aunts who experienced the war and the liberation and what a relief it was for them when it was over. |

Yea that was d!ck!sh for Sew to say but he’s still in mourning from realizing how out of touch with society he is. And if you think Eegore and Zeven are the only ones trying to discuss things, you haven’t been paying attention. I suggest you stick around and entertain us. |
