Title: HD Dyna Muffler Installation (65747-94)

This turned out really nice if I say so myself.

A couple things I did…
1) used a 4” coupler between the pipe and muffler (1.75” ID, 1.75” OD).  The additional net length is about 2” and allowed me to use 2 channel bolts to connect the muffler (muffler rail) to the muffler mount on the bike (rather than 1 bolt as many people have done).

2) used an Emgo reducer to fill the void between the 1.67” header outlet and 1.75” ID end of the coupler.

3) a pair of really solid clamps to hold the coupler to the header pipe and muffler at each end.  The heat shield and good placement of the crank bolts hid those pretty good.

4) a 6” - 1.75” heat shield described as being for a Harley.

5) to get the final fit right, I had to add 4 washers on the channel bolts between the muffler rail and the muffler mount.  Without those 4 washers, the muffler wants to touch the rear brake cable.

Really pleased with this!  IMO - It looks like it was factory designed for the bike.  I didn’t like the way the Dyna went together and fit on a previous Savage I had.

And here’s a pic where I shimmed up with washers on the channel bolts to get about 5mm clearance between the muffler and brake cable.  Kinda hard to see with all the shiny reflection of the muffler.

That is a Super-Sano install Paul.  Did you have to put a kink in the 4” coupler?  Howzabout some more detail on those solid clamps. Where did you get them?

Very nice job.  8-)
