Which battery is it that most solar systems use ?    

The way I understand lead acid is you should not discharge them below 50% .  
So
How about the AGM battery ?

A regular lead acid is injured with a big discharge.
Deep cycle batteries are tougher.

You can discharge your deep cycle marine battery up to 80% without even causing damage to the unit.

There are different Li chemistries.  Some are SAFER than lead acid.
