Title: Think long term
Post by WebsterMark on 08/31/24 at 04:50:46

Nancy Pelosi: "Immigration had always been a bipartisan always."

Maher: "Not free houses."

Pelosi: "It's not free houses, it's the American dream being available to more people."

Maher: "This is for the undocumented."

Pelosi: "I would like to move them to documented."

The American dream has long since become impossible to achieve.
Which people with 3 jobs can still save for a house?

The American dream has always been a sleeping pill that politicians were only too happy to come up with to make the people accept poverty and corrupt legislation.
Actors and peanut farmers as politicians to show that everything was possible.
Who still believes in that dream?

We have fake moralism in its place, haven't we?

Tons.  Of 5 houses up for sale in my neighborhood alone only one is left.

The American dream is very much still alive.
That’s the biggest reason why conservatives like myself are fighting so hard against the socialist, progressive Democrat, soft communist who would destroy that dream and replace it with a nanny state.

I don’t understand the temptation to have somebody take care of all of your needs.

Remember, they got God out of school first.
Then attacked masculinity.
They shamed boys for being boys.
They outlawed frikken dodgeball. The pussification of America is not an accident

      4 Houses.
What was the asking price ?
Were all 4 sold ?
Were some/all taken off the market ?
If they were sold, was it to a person who worked 1 or 2 or 3 jobs ?
 A Couple with a combo of 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 Jobs?
A person or couple, that just won a Lottery, received a inheritance, is a Trust Fund recipient, or have a really high paying job ?

So 4 houses, you do not know if they were sold, nor know any any circumstances about.
Are now PROOF, there are "... people with 3 jobs can still save for a house ..." ?

I would not, and have not said it is PROOF.  I can however say I have 3 jobs and can afford a house.

I know plenty with one job that can afford a house.  But you are correct, knowing humans with one job that buy homes is not PROOF that humans with 3 jobs can afford homes.

I can only say that I do know that 3 houses were sold, and to employed humans that claim they have a minimum of one job each. One house was sold to one human that has 2 jobs.  This is not PROOF that one human with 3 jobs could buy a house.

Maybe just looking at the interest rates would indicate a Change in Affordability..

I would agree there is a change in affordability connected to interest rates.

Due to the number of homes sold, I would say that homes are still affordable, but this is also because the housing market is competitive.  People can own homes, but they definitely pay too much for them in many cases.

Long term? They are working frantically to get them registered.
Why is it not required to show ID? The Racist argument is Bullschitt. Try living in America and Not have any State issued ID. Anyone who doesn't is a non-entity, by choice. Why would a society create a system so open to fraud? Why would anyone argue against making That system secure? At least less Obviously Insecure.
Why not have paper ballots, counted in the same room the votes were cast in?

They don't call it a "dream" for nuttin.

There is a real problem though....  Wallstreet investors and companies are buying up mass quantities of residential property.  Market values keep going up because of supply and demand, and houses have become income producing investments instead of homes.  Houses have become commodities for big business.

Should big brother step in and enact laws to forbid such capitalistic greed?  The capitalist (or Libertarian) in me says "no", but something has to give when a solid 2 income household can't qualify for a loan.

Quite the conundrum.

Yeah,, controlling markets is a bit of a hallmark for forms of government that aren't anything like what America is built on.

, but something has to give when a solid 2 income household can't qualify for a loan.

Yeah,, if the big corporations are doing what a lot of individuals have done, buying a house and renting it out, then using the profits to do it again, and provided housing for people who couldn't afford to buy, or weren't planning on staying in the are long enough to make buying sensible, or just didn't Want to own a home and have to Be the Guy if it needed a roof,,
If That is what the corporations are doing, and it certainly looks that way, then the middle class is about to get dropped economically. Renting costs more than owning. Period. And what they are doing is going to relegate the people who have done things right, lived responsibly, working to achieve The American Dream, owning their own homes, saving for their future and for the kids,,
That will be crushed.

What to do about it? Phht,, I dunno..
