Title: Name That Part
Post by ThumperPaul on 08/08/24 at 09:03:55

This is a true test!  Who can name this part?

Hint: With the crankcase on the workbench, I tilted it to the right to let some residual oil drain out.  This little guy flowed out with it.  Or maybe it just fell out from somewhere on the right side of the case.  It’s about 1/2 -3/4” long.  Rounded on one end.  Flat “shaft” or pin on the other end.  It doesn’t appear damaged but it’s probably not supposed to be floating around in the bottom of the crankcase.

I could scour every parts diagram on the planet and not find or figure this one out.  Somebody that’s been there and done that probably knows the answer.  Let’s see!  Go!

Looks like part of the neutral light switch to me.

Thanks Fast650!  I removed the neutral sensor last week!  Let me see if I can figure it out and where it goes!  That’s definitely a relief!

You are fast, Fast650!!  Thank brother!

Winner! Winner!  Yup!!  And there’s a little springy thingy in there too that I missed!  WooHoo!  Thanks again Fast650!  I need to make the next test harder!!

Anybody want a complete lower motor before I crack it open and risk serious harm!?

As King Arthur said in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, "One has to know such things to be a king".  ;D
