Title: Belt Dressing
Post by ThumperPaul on 07/03/24 at 05:41:32

Does anyone use belt dressing on their belt?  Aside from maintaining correct belt tension, how do you maintain your belt?  I thought about this yesterday when I was lubing and adjusting the chain on my other bike.

I’ve read not to use many of the products on the market as they contain petro-based ingredients that can cause premature aging.  That’s exactly what I don’t want.  I don’t have a squeaky belt, but I’d like to ensure maximum life out of the belt.

I’ve read a food-grade silicone product like this one may be a good choice as  a belt dressing.  Thoughts?

The belt doesn’t need any kind of dressing.

Some folks with squeaky belts have had success using canning wax on the sides to stop the squeaking.

A dry belt doesn’t attract dust and dirt that will accelerate wear.

Thanks Dave!  One less thing to worry about!
