Title: Heat Wrap Post by DaveFromCanada on 01/28/24 at 12:43:25 I have heard exhaust wrap improves performance - keeping the exhaust gases hot. Experiences anyone? |
Title: Re: Heat Wrap Post by Dave on 01/28/24 at 15:17:20 No....doesn't really help a bit. Especially on the Savage that has a double wall header pipe. Heat wrap does destroy the header over time - it holds moisture and will rust the pipe, and the pipe gets hotter and will eventually fall apart from thermal stress. Header wrap is mostly a fashion statement. |
Title: Re: Heat Wrap Post by Ruttly on 01/28/24 at 22:24:37 The purpose of the exhaust is to expel heat , not hold it in. It has its place , in a roll on the shelf ! |
Title: Re: Heat Wrap Post by ThumperPaul on 02/01/24 at 14:58:36 Dave said it's a fashion statement. I say it's for people trying to hide ugly crapped out pipes. Just say no to heat wrap for the reasons Dave and Ruttly shared. |
Title: Re: Heat Wrap Post by verslagen1 on 02/01/24 at 16:51:47 the only good reason for heat wrap is to prevent burns. :) |
