Title: Clutch Stuck Engaged?
Post by ThumperPaul on 11/18/23 at 06:53:11

My ongoing saga with this bike…. Went to move the bike in the garage….  It doesn’t want to roll easily in neutral.  It rolled fine a week ago so it’s not stuck brakes.  You know I have a piece of dowel rod in the cylinder but the engine can be rotated by hand at the crank.  It’s been sitting a few days with the oil drained out.  It’s about to get refilled today.  Would lack of oil cause the clutch plates to stick and bind together?  Note: there was about a quart of gas mixed in with about 2 quarts of oil when I drained it (from flooding carb I assume…. which is getting rebuilt today.).

I’m having so much fun.  I’m learning more about what not to do than I am about what I should do!  Good thing I have y’all so I’m not completely left unsupervised!!

In neutral the clutch has no effect on the bike rolling. Are you actually in neutral?

yes it can stick with no oil, but you have to be in gear.

It not rolling freely in neutral.  I need to get the wheels up and see if they will spin. But I don’t think that’s it, but I could be wrong. I’ve been using the front brake to rock and shake trying to see the dabgum piece of dowel rod in the cylinder!

I think I’m in neutral. Or where neutral should be…. With everything else, it could be that simple.  Where I’m at, it seems a little easier than 1st gear.  I might be 2nd.  Feel like I’m losing my mind.
