Title: Fuse Blows when Off
Post by Aiko222 on 10/12/23 at 16:23:19

I recently rebuilt a good majority of my 97. I did a big bore kit, rear wheel conversion, and a few other things. The other day I finally got to the electricals, and as I was about finished wiring everything up(Haven't reinstalled the blinkers) I decided to connect the battery. With the bike off, I connected the battery but as soon as I did, I blew a fuse. after some investigating I noticed as soon as plug in the rectifier in the fuse blows. the weird part is the bike is switched off(nothing changes when I turn the key on). I replaced the rectifier but still no luck, there's a short but I've looked/checked what feels like everything, and have had no luck. Could it be the magneto? If you have any ideas please let me know, any and all advice is much appreciated. Thank you

Ok the 1st thing I’d check is the 1 hot wire when the switch is off.
Drum roll please.   The decomp/starter controller above the carb. Pull the box off the harness and check the fuse if it still blows then it’s the harness
