Title: Bracket holes. Post by Bob Scogin on 08/31/23 at 16:41:36 My 2015 muffler bracket has 4 "ears" on it. The photo is taken under the bike looking up. What is the purpose of those holes? |

Thanks, makes sense. Anyone ever incorporate them into a footpeg mounting system? They're pretty beefy, and there are other potential attaching points in close proximity. |
Title: Re: Bracket holes. Post by Dave on 09/01/23 at 07:22:19 I don't believe the muffler bracket and canister mounting tabs are strong enough to be used as a footpeg mount. |
Title: Re: Bracket holes. Post by Ruttly on 09/01/23 at 09:20:57 I always thought if your bike needs the bracket , it would be a great place to mount a lithium battery in that area. A aluminum heat shield to protect it from exhaust heat. Perfect for a bobber , chopper type build , I guess any build that uses that bracket. Foot pegs ? Just not enough strength in that bracket for foot pegs. |

I'm inclined to agree. Was just wondering if anyone had found out. I'm going to stick with the "proven" mounting bracket style used by others on here for my mids. |
Title: Re: Bracket holes. Post by ohiomoto on 09/01/23 at 17:49:16 I wouldn't bet my life on that bracket. |

Nor I. I have plans to make my mids similar to yours. No point in re-inventing the wheel. |
