Title: Carb tuning questions
Post by Suzuki86prince on 10/09/22 at 12:04:17

http://[/img]Hi everyone,
Another few questions for the pros :)
I know there is a lot of post on here about carb tuning and how it is done
But I still have some questions about my bike. I have an 86 savage, and I’m in Canada I’m not sure if that changes things.
As I’ve looking at my carb and where ( most would have a plug over the idle mix screw) mine just sits outside the carb itself “see picture” l.
I’ve come to find a good setting for this, about 2 and a half out, like normal it seems but I’m worried the screw itself may fall out? Should this be a concern?
I am also looking for the mid range screw as I’ve been noticing a decrease in my mid range gear 2? Where can I find this?
It was after I took my rear tire off and looked at the brakes, could this have change my mid range, maybe the belt is too tight, I’ve got it to wear I can rotate the belt to a 90 degree on the bottom. [img]

1st your idle mixture screw looks "proud" of the socket it sits in.
No way is this 2*1/2 turns out.  when fully in, the head will be about a 1/4" deep.

mid range is adjusted with the white spacer mod unless your needle jet has grooves.  Please see the 'white spacer' mod.

That’s what I thought too, it shouldn’t sit out that far compared to other pictures I’ve seen, but I also never needed to pull a plug on this bike either. I don’t believe there ever was a plug by the looks of it ?

I'd say that's not the factory screw by the looks of it unless something is wrong with it.
