Title: 15mm Out Post by LuckyLuna on 08/07/22 at 14:14:59 So I've got about 6k miles on my bike, and I'm trying to get all the oddball sounds out, so I dug in and checked the tensioner. It was about 15mm out, but since Im in there, I figured I'd go ahead and get the modification done. Theres a local welder who can do the work, but is there a diagram for how long the additional piece needs to be or how far apart the two holes need to be? Hoping to get back on the road in a few days! Thanks guys! |
Title: Re: 15mm Out Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/07/22 at 14:54:07 You can determine what you need Squeeze your tensioner in as far as it will go. Measure it Drop the spring out Put it together As long as it won't get shorter than when you had the spring in it you can install it. Without the spring in you can mess with it and not be fighting against it. Just make sure you don't accidentally lie to yourself. If it will collapse more without the spring, you can mess yourself up. See where the welded addition needs to be See where it should be drilled You just don't want to get it added to and it be too long to get it in. Unless you're not going to actually Use that new hole now. I don't remember the specs. |

This for sure, b/c he also adds a pin that prevents everything from pulling out and hand-grenading the motor. |
Title: Re: 15mm Out Post by LuckyLuna on 08/10/22 at 08:14:20 I got my part back, I had them add the hole 10mm out from the previous hole, so its reset back to new. $25 The only hiccup I had was I snapped 2 of the cover bolts when trying to reinstall, but luckily my hardware store had some replacements that worked. Now its just getting the belt to stop squeaking when under power and getting the carb rejetted because of the backfiring. |
