Hello everyone,
So, I always thought that my second-hand vm38 looked a bit different from the ones you have. After some search I found this article:

The SS version with the shorter bell, use to show up on eBay fairly often. I haven’t searched for them for years so don’t know the situation now. A lot of the used VMs I purchased were worn beyond use and came with “you guess” jets, you never knew.
