Title: 1998 - my new bike
Post by acr924 on 03/23/22 at 09:11:35

Hey all. Thought I’d share a few pics of my new bike as I made a few small changes I haven’t seen elsewhere on the internet. I added a $20 sportster fairing I got from Bezosmarket and covered the tank decal because I simply didn’t like the “savage” one. Let me know what you think!

Does this fairing actually do anything, or more cosmetic? When I put on the OEM windshield, it made a HUGE difference on the highway.

TBD on any practical impact. I’m in Michigan where is 40 and raining and I just got it finished/running yesterday. I think it will divert some wind though based on its overall size and placement. I also want to mount a phone holder inside it somehow since it’s just empty space inside.

That fairing looks really good on there. I have a more standard looking Spitfire type on mine (also a 98) - it's good for blocking some of the breeze - especially in the colder temps (Ontario here so I feel your Michigan-type pain). Mine is tinted. I was thinking of going with something a bit different for the warmer months - I may have a look for one like yours.
What did you use on your tank to cover over the badge?

...and I hate to be "That Guy" but any chance you have a link to where you got the fairing? Looks like it fits the Savage really well. It's hard to tell looking at them online sometimes...

Thanks! Here is the one I got: TCT-MT Headlight Fairing Front Cowl Cafe Racer Fit For Harley Sportster Dyna Glide FX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QF89PYW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_H69MESW4FJKZ1RMYQ9ST?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

There are a bunch listed on many sites and i suspect they are all the same. fyi- the opening is slightly larger than the stock headlight, but i held my centered with mounting tape on the inside. also, i had to make my own brackets out of pre-drilled flat metal (from hardware store) and some nuts and bolts/washers to level. i connected it to the bottom of the handlebar mount bolts on the bike. it’s on there more solid than i expected, doesn’t budge or vibrate so far.

the decal was one of the standard size ones from eastcoastvinylwerks and for the set it was maybe $20. tons of options.

Neat. Kinda pulls an 80s vibe but with a cool reto'ness.  Post more pictures, please.

Yeah, I'm digging the bars, fairing, fender, and tank graphics.
