Title: Side Stand switch removal
Post by wiguzziman on 03/11/22 at 09:33:35

Can the side stand switch simply be removed from the wiring circuit, or does a jumper wire need to be installed to keep the motor from killing when the bike is put in gear?  Thanks!  Carry on!!  wiguzziman

That circuit is to ground, so the easy way is to jump it.
But that makes the side stand relay useless so you could eliminate it with some judicial clipping and snipping.... no, I don't.

Can I assume then that "jumping" the switch wires on the clutch lever saftey switch will eliminate that switch and allow the bike to function without that safety switch as well?  It's sad that all those corporate lawyers got involved in the manufacture of motorcycles.  Safety switches all over the bike!! :-(  Carry on!!  wiguzziman

Yes you can jump that one as well, but it's a hot jump, don't let it touch ground.

BTW, great place to check your starter button.

I get the impression Suzuki knew the cam couldn't live with the bike running while on the side stand, and this was their cheap fix.

It runs in neutral

Alright.  Since I have never had or seen a running Savage to date, I did not know that.  Either way, I am eliminating that switch on mine as well.

Don’t forget the Decompression Control System

That is on the "to be addressed" list as well

I really hate to see you messing with electrical mods before you get it running.

The wiring loom is hacked already.  With mid controls, I added a aftermarket kick stand.  I am using a lighter, lithium ion battery.  I am not worried...  the wiring diagram is not that complicated.
