I like it that way better,
Look at how it Is. It's mounted to a heat sink that gets plenty of air.
You could check the RR temperature on a ride on a hot day. Not in the immediate future,
You can get a real heat sink ,mount it up,and place it where it gets airflow.
A little creativity, some light gauge metal and you might be able to build a cubby up under the seat. Below it,, it's been a while since I've looked at where the gaps are. It's not a big part,and if the wires come up short, you can get some heat shrink tubing and a soldering iron and add length.

There is some air flow under the seat - but the heat sink of the fender and air flow on the bottom of the fender is likely pretty good at dissipating the heat. The rear fender has a nice flat spot that is exactly the shape of the regulator.......Suzuki built it to move the heat into the fender.

You either need to mount it to a slab of metal that will dissipate the heat - or get it in some air flow. The regulator needs to bleed off heat to work properly and not burn up in the process. The same regulator is mounted down by the swingarm on some other bikes where it is directly in the air flow.

If you don't provide a place for the heat to go - your regulator will fail.

this varies quite a lot as those that don't boil off the water in the battery instead.

I measured it once. After about 20 minutes of riding, it was 145F. On a stock LS, the induction system pulls air across the regulator. The foam blocks under the seat form a channel for the air but there's a lot of leaks. I suspect the induction air doesn't cool the regulator a whole lot, but every little bit helps.
