Motorcycle dealers are full of them! ;)

I went out and tried it on my 600 pound motorcycle - and it does make a big difference!  Turning the front wheel to the right lowers the height of the bike and it is more upright when you pull the bike off the sidestand.  I believe the concept is that when the bike is leaning to the left and the bars are turned to the left......the front tire contacts the ground more toward the front of the tire and lifts the front end slightly, and when you turn the bars to the right the front tire contacts the ground farther back on the tire and the bike height drops a bit and leans a bit less.

Does some of that depend on the rake at the front end?

Probably........but I would guess most heavy touring or sport touring bikes have a similar rake.

All I know for sure that on my heavy bike it made a noticeable difference.

Pointing left it is much more stable. If you want to keep a bike from accidentally being downed, walk away with it pointed left. And to the right
It gets light.
Imo, if I need That advantage to get it stood up, I'm on too many pounds of bike.
A friend offered to let me ride his bike and it was a Guzzi, not exactly a monster, but I'm not comfortable with the weight, so I passed. I Wanted to, but, DAYUMM,, bounce a friends bike just to take a short ride? Naah. I know my limits..
I'm Most at risk of dropping one coming to a stop.
You?

Absolutely!  When you come to a stop you aren't always assured of firm footing, level pavement or the absence of gravel or oily pavement!  It gets even dicier when you have a passenger!

Yea , sometime the weight of having a passenger makes staying upright hard to do even on a med weight bike !  ;)

especially on unlevel ground !!

Having a clutch that is easy to work would be a real plus in staying up on un-level ground .    I think one of those new "SLIPPER CLUTCHES" might be on my next bike !  :-?

I will try this on my 700 pound Rocket... when it gets out of the shop.  :'(

I have not had any issues getting it upright off the kickstand, but that kickstand is too long (my opinion) and I am thinking about getting another one that I can have cut down about half an inch.
If that occurs, I may to do this trick to get it off the stand!

OH.. yeah.  In the shop.  Looks like charging system is not working.  It will jump start OK, but dies as soon as the jumper cable comes off.
Good news.. still under manufacturer warranty!!!

Very interesting. I will try.

Neal, glad that bike is still under warranty.

I was just reading about the Rocket 3 , That is a lot of Motorcycle !  :o

I'm going to feel like I'm ridding  a "Mini-Bike" next to one of them Rockets !   ;D

???

I can poke a hole in my muffler to make the Mini Bike BIGGER !

Hay ,  Do we still get to do some "Water Crossings" ?
................................

I'm prediction that Wednesday  the 20th. will be the Rain Day for the week .  ;)
According to my weather/moon cycles calendars for the last two years ,

Only when Deb and I have another route that will bypass the water crossing. ;)

We are talking about "CLEAN" water Dave , for the first one across --- then the rest of the folks get Muddy Water  .   :)

My motorcycles prefer roads that are clean and dry.......and so does Deb!

If you want to go ride the Slime Bridge - Deb and I can go shopping that day.

Dave , there's always a bridge near-by .   I don't thing YouzGuyz would be ridding a ROCKET through a slime-creek either , I don't think I would either .   ;)     But I had to ask .

Springman's brother in law rides a Harley dresser so we'll be a well behaved bunch maybe ?  ;D

Heck !  Ridding double and creek crossing never has been a good idea

I did find a vidio of a Harley Dresser crossing a creek !

............................

None of this stuff !   :)

But , it does look like fun !!  8-)

The Rocket will only put in a "cameo" appearance on one of the rides.   Thumper will be the ride "du jour".  An appearance by Mad Hamish will probably happen as well.

I am still getting used to the Rocket.. and it is just hard to switch back and forth between the two bikes.
BUT, I figure some of you may want to at least see it.

NONE of the rides will have PLANNED water crossings that do not offer an alternate "dry" route.
You can't blame me for water that I didn't know was there!
With that said, and not to tell you how to suck eggs, but.. tips for going through a water crossing:
1. Do not brake
2. Do not steer .. unless the road doesn't go straight..
3. Have enough speed up to make it across without a lot of throttle (you ain't gonna "coast", but you don't want to have to gun it)
4. STAY IN THE TIRE TRACKS!!!!!  No matter how good the middle looks or how crappy the tire tracks look.

"Slime Bridge" will just be avoided.  It has a reputation.

T, I figure some of you may want to at least see it.

At least see it !    Well , yea ! :)

My Jeep CJ5 had 150HP. V-8
That's about the same power your bike has !

No , I don't want to ride it , but I want to see what it runs like.. But not from behind it directly (just in case the pavement breaks loose under it) !
