Title: Ga450 front wheel question
Post by SavageMan99 on 06/20/21 at 06:51:43

When putting on a cast gs450 wheel. On what side does one mount the speedometer drive?
It looks as if the brake rotor can mount on either, but to spin the speedometer the right way what side does it go on?

On the GS750, it goes on the left side.
Same side as the disk.

I'll try that then.

I found a 800 Intruder sans engine for $150.
I'll likely use that triple tree.
It has spoked rims and I really like the GS snowflake ones.
It looks as if the GS450 and the Intruder both have 15mm axles. Any idea about brake rotor fitment?

fork tube diameter on a vs800 is 39mm

So you'll likely have to use the whole front end... easier that way anyway.

the snowflake rims come on older bikes if I remember correctly... might not be tubeless.

Mine are tubeless.
I'm concerned about the brakes and:
Can I reuse the Harley springs out of my Savage?
Can I reuse the rubber fork covers off my Savage?
I figure I should rebuild the forks while their out.
