Title: Need Help, Bike Not Starting
Post by Aquinaz921 on 05/29/21 at 21:11:07

I think my battery is dying, anyone able to listen and probably tell what's going on?  Motorcycle shop is backed up and won't be able to check out the bike after 3 wks.

Thank you, any help is appreciated.

These bikes will not start without 10v.  Based off your video it's not going to start until you see if you can get a full charge on that battery.

If the bike is stock and unmolested, don't crack the throttle until the bike fires. Once the battery is charged

Yup, dead bat.
A tender will keep a battery charged, but is not strong enough to charge it overnight.

And then your battery altso is stock ?.. its this, batteries have a shelftime, what ever one do.

Try it out, and if your battery is more the 5 years old, dont hesitate to buy a new battery.

In any case.. batterys is kind of cheap.. but I did strugle a lot to get it out, have to losen my seat and losen my side panels, to get to the battery conections and pull it out!

Its this.. it was totaly broken.. it was a cheap wet battery that some formar owner put in there. :-?
In any case I bought my a AGM battery and a trickle charger..lets hope thats my last effort about batteries anyhow.. on my bike?

Your bike is a 2001, batteries don't last that long.
batteries sometimes have date stamp on them.

If you ride often and the battery stays strong with regular use, I wouldn't mess with it other than making sure it is topped off if it is not a sealed unit.

If it seems a little weak and/or seems to loose it's juice while sitting, follow the advice above and replace it.  Nothing worse than being stranded or missing out a a ride because of a crappy battery.  (Actually, there are worse things but we don't need to go there. haha)

Batteries are not that expensive. Getting stranded suxx.
When I get a used vehicle and I don't Know about the health of the battery, I'm not gonna gamble much. You have already had trouble. Checking the water, charging it, taking it to be tested
Or
Replace it
Would be my direction.
If you put a battery in, putting a pigtail on it so you can plug a charger in is not a bad plan.
The gel type batteries are better. Gel,glass mat, meh,,
Not lead acid

The original battery sems to be Yausa YB14L-B2.

If you got it out and it have the same brand and signs.. its probably original?

In any case.. It was a strugle for me to get the battery out.. kind of doing an excersise on my local gym.

Anyway, it was a cheap wet battery.. and it was totaly broken.

In anyway.. I rather do my workouts at my local gym, then in my garage.

Soo, I invested in a AGM battery and a trickle charger, whit conections to the trickle charger.

anyone have any experience with this battery?  My local O'Reily store is doing a Summer Battery check promo...  if I do need one, this is what they currently have that would fit my Savage.

I'm sure that battery will be fine, but there are cheaper options.

I put one of these in my 06 S40 and if worked prefect.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ6K642/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
