Title: Bambi
Post by MnSpring on 12/20/20 at 15:37:38

Walt Disney was a very creative, intelligent, hard working, and driven individual.
Walt Disney was also very anti firearm.

In 1942 an animated movie was released. The basic story came from a book published in Berlin In 1923. This story traced the life of a male roe deer, from birth through childhood, the loss of his mother, the finding of a mate, the lessons he learns from his father, and the experience he gains about the dangers posed by human hunters in the forest. And was lauded as one of the first ‘environmental novels’.

Walt Disney, took many liberties, and made a wild animal into a, ‘Prince’, of the forest with human attributes.

For many generations and hundreds of years, Parents taught firearms, hunting skills, woodcraft, survival, (as well as many other), lessons to their children.

In 1942, children were subject to believing a wild creature was something to feel sorry for, because it was, ‘human’, like. Young children never saw the anti-hunting/gun messages, they just absorbed them.  They are quite subtle. Nowhere is hunting ever mentioned, but you just know it's bad.

Those children grew up, and had children. Some of those children never passed on any hunting/gun information.
Those children grew up, had children of their own, and a few more of those children never passed on any hunting/gun information.
Then those children grew up, had children, and more of those children never had any hunting/gun information passed to them.
Then those children grew up, had children, and most of those children never had any hunting/gun information passed to them.

Today children have no education in hunting/firearms, simply because their parents know nothing about either.

So when the anti-gun socialists, want to ban models, ban capacity, ban calibers, ban actions, bit by bit. They have Walt Disney to thank, as he planted the seed that grew in very fertile soil.

Now, everybody and their buddies are putting human attributes on animals.
So it’s, “Oh My Can’t do any harm to Mr. Coyote or Mr. Wolf, and can't eat Mr. Deer, or Miss Duck etc, etc, etc, !
And the only thing that will change their mind is when,
Mr. Coyote or Mr. Wolf, kills their little fu-fu dog/cat in front of their eyes.

OBTY, you do know PETA is the acronym for:
People Eating Tasty Animals

All you have to do is give Mr. Coyote  a "Acme" catalog or a catalog from  Turbonique

And the problem takes care of itself    ;D.

There are a lot more cartoons today, imagine all the damage they will do in 50 years.

Sleeping Beauty made people restless.  Aladdin brought about an entire generation buying too many rugs.  Beauty and the Beast altered young women's perception of how to select male partners, Pinocchio detached young males from human form identification, 101 Dalmatians made us all fear fur coats.

Disney really did a number on kids.

Luckily today the many of the cartoons use guns, so maybe they are planting the seeds for an increase in firearm ownership in the future.

I can remember seeing Bambi. All the tears around me did not stop me from getting hungry.

Did not stop me or billions more, either.

Yet it significantly influenced billions to believe that banning a model of firearm, limiting the number of rounds, and creating, ‘safe places’, will reduce crime, and stop mass shootings.
And made millions more believe, punishing the tool and punishing the people that use the tool correctly. Instead of punishing the person, will work.

(despite eegore making fun of the influence the movie Bambi did)

There is actually extensive research about firearm usage in animated media, including Bambi.  Typically the tolerance threshold starts to change in the early 90's.

What I wonder is why the "this type of gun is bad" comes from Bambi when that "bad type" of gun wasn't used and the average gun ban supporter is fine with hunting.  Or at least they are less concerned about hunting than they are a nightclub where dozens can be gunned down in a minute.

I am sure there is more acceptance to firearm restriction by those introduced to firearms as a bad thing in cartoons when they are young, but I do question if the ratio is actually higher the other way.

I don't think Bambi is implicitly anti-firearm. It is unquestionably anti- hunting though.

Of course the two things are conflated in a lot of peoples minds.

I am personally acquainted with people who consider hunters - even hunters who don't hunt with firearms, as being exactly the same as School shooters or gun wielding terrorists.

I agree.  Luckily it still seems to be a majority that can tell the difference.  Almost all legislation with enough signatures addresses things unrelated to hunting.  I do know a number of "killing is killing" people that I continually ask about where the sentient line is.  They are fine killing spiders, but not ladybugs, bats but not pigeons etc.

And of course they are very happy to consume a steak, turkey, ham, or a chicken whenever they please.
Just don't kill bambi or thumper yourself.

I’m sure a fair percentage are pro-choice as well. Don’t shoot a deer, chop a baby up instead.

Didn’t you just single-handedly give it that distinction? Just saying.

No Serwbot
The dumbest thing is the number of kids we murder a year in abortion.

~1 Million.

Which one did we murder, who would have came up with a quick fix to this virus?

Which one did kill off that would have given us a flying car.

Which on would have come up with a good electric car battery chemistry?

Who did we rip apart that would have invented a hyperdrive?

If children are our future.

We are are certainly squandering it.

If one wants to hear the band play, After hitting the iceberg that wouldn't damage the ship.  Go right ahead, nothing to see here folks!

I instead will be looking for a life raft.
