Title: Throttle - idle insanity
Post by Slowlane on 12/20/20 at 14:59:28

2009 ls650.  Got the carb clean and re-installed and it ran nicely.  Until I cranked the handlebars left or right then full speed and no backing down.  Pulled the tank and found the throttle cable is probably routed wrong.  I pulled and re-routed it several times and it's still pulling on the throttle any time I move the handlebars.  I tried the search function but could not find anything on throttle cable routing.

Cable routing will cause that problem. So will lack of cable slack in the throttle cable. Make sure that the cable is routed as straight as possible, and allow about an 1/8 inch of free play in the cable.

I finally got the routing correct on my 2009 S40 with 940 miles.  Two carb rebuilds and it stilll runs like garbage.  Changed to a Murray carburator (fantastic) will give updates later.
