Title: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by baldybiker on 12/18/20 at 05:03:48 I would like to fit a hydraulic clutch. Is there one suitable, does anyone know? Thanks, Bb |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by Gary_in_NJ on 12/18/20 at 06:16:58 There is not. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by verslagen1 on 12/18/20 at 10:41:33 You can get a hydraulic clutch but it only replaces the cable as the slave cylinder is mounted above the clutch case. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by norm92de on 12/18/20 at 13:02:27 I think your best bet is to leave the clutch lifting mechanism stock!! |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by baldybiker on 12/18/20 at 16:45:07 It’s the dreaded arthritis don’t you know. Still, thanks for your replies. I have a really nice low mileage example despite it being 14 years old. The clutch cable looks very good but I replaced it with a new one tonight and it is smoother. Looking forward to better weather here and more freedom at some point. Then I can go for a proper ride on my a savage instead of my Super Cub. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by ckahleer on 12/18/20 at 18:45:01 Although a hydraulic clutch may be easer to pull, while waiting at a red light a cable clutch is easer to hold in. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by Gary_in_NJ on 12/18/20 at 19:33:49 What you seek is the Rekluse Auto Clutch. Contact them to see if they have a kit that would work on the Savage. Is the DR650 clutch the same as the LS650? If it is, there is hope. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by baldybiker on 12/19/20 at 06:30:44 Unfortunately Rekluse don't do one for it. I'll have tp see how I get on with the new cable. Thanks again all. :) |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by baldybiker on 12/19/20 at 06:33:58 Just to say, we do have a great company over here in the UK, called Venhill. They offer a service for Magura whereby one can measure up and order parts to make up a kit. Unfortunately Magura say that you need a clutch travel of 10mm or less otherwise not suitable. The Savage clutch travel is more than that, 13mm approx. How annoying is that! |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by Hiko on 12/19/20 at 13:03:52 only slightly irritating as you can move the clevis closer to the fulcrum thereby reducing the travel can you not? Not sure why you would want to though |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by LANCER on 12/19/20 at 14:17:19 Did you lubricate the new clutch cable you just bought ? If not, it helps. |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by baldybiker on 12/19/20 at 15:30:35 I'll take a look at that possibility Hiko. No Lancer I don't lubricate the cable on first fitting, but I do thereafter. Some cables are recommended not to be lubed, aren't they? |
Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by ckahleer on 12/20/20 at 08:53:46 Check out Easy Pull clutch and actuators. I don't know if they will work on a savage. Title: Re: Hydraulic Clutch? Post by norm92de on 12/21/20 at 13:21:57 I have a spring gadget and just measured my S40 clutch pull. It is 33lbs which is more than I would have guessed. No wonder we all have such a strong hand shake. :) |
