Title: About Kenda tire, inner tube and rim strip Post by kylejang on 11/27/20 at 10:17:58 Hi everyone. It's time for me replace front tire. Front tire looks like original tire from factory. my bike is 2008. I know pervious owner changed rear tire to Kenda K657 Challenger so I want to match front tire too. I broke the bead and looked inside and I didn't find rim strip. Do I need to buy rim strip and new inner tube together with tire? If I need to buy Kenda inner tube what size of inner tube I should buy? Online store suggested other inner tube for 100/90-19 but that is CAD $20 and Kenda is half of price but at the same time sale person told me if I buy Kenda inner it will not 100% match. It's my first time changing motorcycle tire. Please let me know. Thank you in advance. |

Title: Re: About Kenda tire, inner tube and rim strip Post by ckahleer on 11/28/20 at 08:00:43 You can, but at 12 years old, I would replace it. Old tubes tend to fail around the valve stem area. That tube may be 24 years old by the time another tire is needed. I tend to replace if over 10 years old. Also, If you never changed a motorcycle tire before, There's a good chance the tube won't make it through the process. Be very careful not to pinch the tube with the spoons. |

A lot of people don't like to reuse them, but that's personal preference. I reuse mine. I raced a lot of motocross and never had a flat tire. I've had two flats on my LS650. On was with a new tube and one with an old tube. Most of my tube replacements were due to pinching them when installing the tire. I'll usually patch a tube once, before moving on. |

' I bout my 2000 savage whit originlnal tires, and there was a lot of rubber on those! But the rubber was old, probably the tubes altso? Soo, the first thing I done is get new tires and tubes and rimstrips, and new oil and oil filter, to be safe! I put it in a local bike shop, got Bridgstone tires, 150/80 in the back and 100/90 in the front! It cant be that difficult to get a new tube and rim for your new front tire? Been there, done that, and even punctured a tube, now Im to old and lazy to do that work anymore. |

Its this, you dont know if former owner bought a new tube or/and rimstrips. In any way you dont like to have a flat tire, perticulary not the front tire, when riding! And to another topic, I have to go out to my garage and inspect my wheels, there is a minor balance weight on my back wheel! :( Soo, good luck you still need to go and test it for balance! |
