Title: Big problem no engine oil!!! Post by kylejang on 11/24/20 at 07:09:13 I was doing oil change yesterday and found out very little engine oil dripping out. I am shocked because I did top up little bit just couple months ago. No visible leaks so I think oil is burning but also I don't really see blue smoke on exhaust. I only ride 24 km or 12 mile to work and any bad weather I don't ride including Canadian winter. This winter I did set up my garage and bike for bad ass looking bike project and all stop now until further damage assessment. What is your suggestions? :'( :'( :'( :'( Thank you in advance. |

Title: Re: Big problem no engine oil!!! Post by ckahleer on 11/24/20 at 08:23:24 How many miles since last top up? I would top up oil. Clean engine. And check oil level every 100 miles. Rule out if any loss is due to leakage. See how many miles between top of sight glass to bottom. |

I never use miles to decide when to change. I use how often I need to add. Checking oil is painless. Do it often. I generally look at it before I start it. I might check again while I'm out doing stuff, depending on miles on the oil and how hard I'm riding. Just having a couple of little two stroke oil containers of oil on board can be the difference between enough to get home safely or not. |

He put two quarts in and didn't see a line in the little window so he put another quard and then another. And for oil change and filter change 2 liters. 1-0.9 liters is ofcourse half of what supose to be there. But, if its not broken, its not broken! I think that are margins to, it cant be that some less DL of oil could do any harm, if one not doing a lot offroad! Comuting seems to be fairly level rides, the oil have to get below the intake of the oil pump to suck air! And how to use the inspection glas on the right side of the engin. One should have the bike on level ground, have the bike standing right up.. not on the side stand. Easyest way is to have somebody sitting on the bike in riding position, then you can inspect that glas, in the middle is prefered and recomended by Suzuki. In any way, you have nothing to lose, put some new oil in it and change oilfilter, it could be one of your better buys, try it out. |

You will have to adjust the position/angle of the mirror the first time, but remember the position for subsequent level checks. |

If you need to raise the rear tire, put the chock on the front wheel and use a floor jack. Need to raise the front, reverse the process. Second try whit "somebody" , was my old mother, she could not hold it. Aha, a better ide, let her sit in riding position.. shes to old (only 86) to climb the saddle! Soo I bout my a wheel chock! And did you know, the former owner probably filled up to the right marking, whit the bike on side stand? Thats not good either, to much oil can make enginparts, especialy the crankshaft and probably altso the balance axel, wisking air bubbles in the oil. Air is not that good as lubricant. In anyway, the wheel chock was usefull, when I removed the saddle, perticaly on the left side! |

Title: Re: Big problem no engine oil!!! Post by verslagen1 on 11/26/20 at 09:17:27 All you need is a block under the kickstand to get the bike nearly vertical. Doesn't need to be perfect. some people leave it on the kickstand and fill to the bottom line. |
