Title: SARS-COV-2 national rates false.
Post by Eegore on 11/13/20 at 06:06:38

It's well known that a lot of testing results in false positives, and that the mortality rate counts can be skewed higher due to death certificates containing SARS-COV-2 as a contributing factor even if the primary cause of death was unrelated.

The overall national ICU usage rate is very low.

So what does El Paso do with this information?

Keep bringing up the national ICU availability stats, there's a ton of open beds, reference youTube videos of a lady saying a guy falling off a cliff is recorded as a Covid death, and pretend all those bodies aren't there, or find a way to store them?

I have it on good authority that, one day, like a miracle, it will just go away.

I heard many times that it was just going to disappear on November 4th

Yeah I haven't even entertained that line of discussion regarding the severity going away after the election.  The interpretation is so open ended nobody could prove anyone right or wrong.

My question is to people that keep bringing up statistics about how drywall particles go into masks, how cruise ships are a direct analogue for an entire 40+ million people outside of a cruise ship, how car accidents are wrongly classified as Covid deaths etc. etc. so the entire country should go back to normal.

If the entire country goes back to normal what should El Paso do with all those bodies?

I agree there is too much hype and excessive response in some areas, I do not agree that because of some excessive response, all response should stop.

From Alex  Berenson Twitter account. Alex has written several books on Covid.

Michigan's monthly death data provides a look at the terrible impact of the lockdowns.

From June to September 2020, 33,549 residents died - about 2,300 more than the previous year - a 7% increase.

Because #Covid, right?

No. Michigan classified 784 of the deaths as Covid...

2/ And it is VERY unlikely to have missed many (or even few) #Covid deaths, because Michigan aggressively matches death certificates with Covid test registries.

Further, reported deaths from COPD and pneumonia actually fell by about 250 from 2019 to 2020...

3/ Those are the two categories where unreported Covid deaths would be most likely. Meanwhile, cancer deaths also fell, and heart disease deaths (the biggest category) rose slightly.

In other words, Covid deaths are not being hidden. These other deaths are unrelated to #Covid...

4/ So who are those extra 1,500+ people who died over the summer. What did they die of?

Well, the categories Michigan reports monthly make up roughly 45% of all deaths. What are other big categories?

Suicide. Overdose. Accident. Alcoholism. Dementia and Alzheimer's. Homicide...

5/ Deaths that have one thing in common: they are products of, or are worsened by, despair and loneliness.

Unfortunately, Michigan doesn't break those out on a monthly basis. But they MUST account for almost the entire remaining increase. The math is simple and brutal...

6/ And one day, long after the CNNs have forgotten #Covid and moved on to shark attacks or another Woodstock documentary, we will get a full picture of lockdown deaths this year. And we will regret the choices we've made.

Unfortunately Michigan's medical data won't help El Paso do something with all those bodies.  I assume if Michigan has more people dying from suicide than people dying inside medical centers then they should act appropriately to their public health issues.

I shipped two mobile morgues to Houston and was told TX "will never use them."  One is still in Houston with bodies in it, the other is going to a location near El Paso.  I would not assume every hospital in the country needs this, just certain ones.

Again, there is over reacting, but to say there is no, as in "none" or "zero" reason to think SARS-COV-2 can inundate a medical center's resource and employee pool should at a minimum provide information as to why certain, not all, locations need additional morgue space.

Images of drywall dust, Michigan's healthcare problems, cruise ships, cumulative national ICU usage, do not answer the question of what El Paso should do about all those bodies.

What’s the issue in El Pasco? Are you trying to make some other point?

Do what they do in times of other disasters, rent large reefer trailers.

I'm saying that the concern of SARS-COV-2 is that it can, and only the word "can" with the exemption of all other words: can cause an extreme shortage of medical resources leading to more people dying than what is normal.

I have been told this wont happen, its fake, socialist, fear mongering.  We are fine, the "proof" is that the national ICU usage is at an all time low.  SARS-COV-2 testing yields too many false positives, that's "proof" that we don't have to worry about it.

Its a seasonal flu, nothing more.

When has a seasonal flu required multiple mobile morgues?  This does not happen every flu season.  Oh wait "the media" just never reported it, incidentally either did any medical worker, family member, coroner or funeral home.  They just truck all those seasonal flu deaths away and nobody brings it up.

If SARS-COV-2 is a seasonal flu and the national ICU bed count is fine, and its all just fear mongering why can't El Paso just use that information to solve their problems?

What I understand is that the virus has mutated into a less harmful variant, there are now far fewer people in intensive care in our country.

I now know 25 people in my immediate area who are infected. Most of them had only minor complaints.

My girlfriend had tested positive for corona 2 months ago. She is hardly ever sick, but was now quite ill.

I also expected to get sick because it is always very nice between us.
I got a cold so I got tested, but I didn't have the virus. I heard from my doctor that some people have a natural resistance to the virus. lucky me.

Blood type O, higher levels of vitamin D and of course those with none of the health risks are less likely to develop symptoms. They may inhale the virus, but they are able to prevent it from replicating before it interferes with bodily functions.

But that doesn’t help El Paso. To have so many deaths that morgues are over run means they mast have skyrocketing cases of Covid and skyrocketing positive test results.

Why? What is it about El Paso?

I actually visited El Paso regularly maybe 20-25 years ago. Had business in the wire drawing industry, most of which is gone. For a while, it was the Mecca of wire drawing.

What role does the proximity to Juárez play? I’ve been there, what a $hithole.

I will detail a personal story related to hospitals that has no real relevance to El Paso, but one month ago tomorrow, I had prostate cancer surgery. Surgery started at 8 am, got to recovery around 2pm. Expected to be there for an hour but was there until 9:30 that evening. The stated reason was they had an influx of Covid patients and that was creating a backup. The real reason as several nurses told me was due to fewer elective surgeries and procedures, one wing had been closed and workers furloughed. Plus, the added steps require to prepare a room for a new patient added more time. Nurses were short staffed. My wife heard a woman calling for help, went into her room and pressed the nurse call button for her. When no one came, she went and found a nurse. This is s major hospital in our area.

Hospitals are a business, that’s why the care is so high. When businesses lose customers and revenue, they make business decisions. Lockdowns come with a cost. I don’t believe any national, state or local government, has the capability to have a rational political discussion and make a science based decision.

I suffered a bit because of the situation but not that much. Face it, I have the financial and insurance coverage to adjust, but a man in the poorer areas of the city in the same situation would have been dumped in an ill prepared room with far fewer nurses. And don’t use this to tout government healthcare because VA hospitals are awful.

Firstly,... best wishes on your recovery.

...and, I understand that hospitals are suffering and staff are being laid off,... non-emergency procedures are being postponed, people are avoiding hospitals out of fear.
...the question is, how do we fix it?
Ignoring the pandemic is not the solution.
We need to get control of it.
Masks, distancing, hygiene...

The same for the economy,...
Just opening up doesn't cure the problem.  An open restaurant without customers is a money pit.
People need to feel safe going out.
Until we get control of the virus, the economy will suffer.

Thank you. Every man over 40, get a PSA. Every man over 50, stop what you’re doing now and schedule a test.

No one’s ignoring the pandemic, no one. There’s plenty of evidence to suggest strict lockdowns do nothing in the long run except delay the inevitable and create a series of significant problems while in place. There’s evidence to suggest lockdowns have a positive impact. It’s not an easy answer. And it’s not a one size fits all. Manhattan New York bears little or no resemblance to Manhattan Kansas.

And it wouldn’t of mattered who the president was, nothing was going to be any different. Trump, Hillary, Biden, Obama which ever it wouldn’t of mattered. Just because the president doesn’t wear a mask doesn’t mean anything. If you’re so freaking stupid that you’re not wearing a mask because the president isn’t or if you’re so freaking  stupid you are wearing a mask because the president does, then you’re an idiot.

The CDC has continuously updated their recommendations. For the longest time they never even acknowledged infections could be spread  by aerosols. They were hung up on the respiratory droplets. They were very slow to change.

When this is all over, the country and everyone should really focus on individual health. Improving our immunity health would go along way. And stop looking to government for the answers, figure it out yourselves. My God, we created the greatest country in the world of barren wilderness. Surely we can all take care of ourselves a little bit better.

How does one focus on individual health without healthcare?...
You just said everyone (males) should get a PSA test...
Poor people won't.  ...but they will get prostate cancer, and you will ultimately pay for it.
Isn't prevention cheaper than treatment?
PSA tests, breast cancer screening, cholesterol testing, blood pressure checks and treatments, all cost money but save in the long term.

The Republican "I'm okay, screw you" philosophy ultimately costs you money.
It costs YOU money.
You can be smart or selfish, or smart and selfish...
For once,.. acting in your own self interest is beneficial to your fellow man.
You just need to admit it.
An once of prevention....
