Title: Muffler Replacement
Post by gtenginerd on 10/19/20 at 10:51:00

Thought I'd share how this is going.

Supplies:
Cone Engineering:
  12 inch x 1.75 inch diameter Muffler
  2 inch bracket
  18 degree stainless bend
Aluminum Bar Stock for attaching bracket to frame

Guys at Cone suggested friction fitting along with the bracket-no welding on joint for ease of removal. Below is a pic of my amateur but effective photoshop (MS Paint) to figure out where to cut the elbow. I made a coupling out of the leftover, but think I'll try to get the correct diameter. I can't find any 1.75 inch stainless exhaust clamps. Trip to a friend with a welder planned in the next week.

I'll have to post a pic of mine.  I got the quieter core from cone engr.
If you like the sound level of the dyna, it's pretty close.
You can tip toe thru the neighborhood w/out being too loud.
I would recommend welding on a cuff and a rail to fix it to the header and bracket.
I got a few 1.75" clamps from somewhere.

Yes, it's louder than I expected, which kinda sucks for what will be mostly a city bike.

Can you explain what you mean by 'cuff and rail'?
