I love Serowbot's bike and was just looking for more pictures/details of how it was designed and built. I looked in the thread with links to everyone's build and couldn't find one by Serowbot.

Sorry, no... I never really did a "build", I'm not that clever.... the bike just sort of evolved over time.
The main features are, a used chrome rear fender, 12" Intruder shocks, front lift of seat and rear lift of tank, Harley muffler, and chroming of tank with addition of center stripe and knee pads made from rubber floor runner from Ace Hardware. Mudflaps are thicker floor runner material.
...all the mods were done on the cheap... except for the tank chroming, which was a gift from a friend whose bikes I routinely serviced.

@Serow The bike looks great. Is that a custom seat? It kind of looks like it might be a V-Star seat.

I sure do miss Tucson and the Sonoran Desert. I lived there for about 7 years. I still hope to return one day and make it the final stop.

Also,.. I think my camera may have a dirt filter... ;D

The seat is stock, but very slightly contoured, and I had an upholstery shop recover it with a carbon fiber look vinyl for $20.
They managed to steam and stretch a single piece of vinyl and staple it in place.... seamless looks pretty cool...
2" of lift on the front of the seat and 1" lift on the rear of the tank makes the lines of the bike less chopper and more classic.
Much longer bolts than stock with 1" spacers stacked between the frame, tank, and seat.

That's a great looking bike! I'm going for a UJM look without having to tear the whole bike apart, and yours is one of my favorites I've seen so far.

I got Intruder shocks on my bike a couple days ago. I can tell already that they'll be much more comfortable than the stock ones. I had the stock shocks set on the stiffest setting for carrying me and my luggage across the country. The longer shocks of course made the stock muffler hit the passenger footpeg. I'm waiting for a dyna muffler and exhaust header gasket in the mail before my bike will be rideable again. Do you think I'll need to bend the stock muffler mount to keep the dyna muffler from hitting the passenger footpeg? I see your muffler points down low, but I'm having trouble visualizing how that could work given the angle of my muffler mount bracket. I'm sure it'll be clear once I get the muffler in the mail and can mock it up, but I'm curious ahead of time.

There used to be a photo of me in a Nissan Sentra waiving at the google maps car, but that section of street view was replaced with updated photos years ago :(

Edit: I also got spacers under the tank and seat, and did the deep socket handlebar spacer mod. The bike is already almost where I want it. Might throw on a different seat, but that will be over the winter if I decide to.

Honestly,... I installed my muffler before I discovered the rail mount shorty's... So mine is the tab mount, and although I made it work just fine with the stock mount, I eventually cut the entire rail section of the bracket off and drilled a bolt hole in the round tubing part of the bracket to secure the muff.
I have noticed that the flat, rail bar of the mount has lip along the top and bottom. Just grinding that lip off would allow a rail type muffler to angle in a bit.
It took me a while to get comfortable with hacking off the portion of the bracket to make my shorty run straight. I first had to make sure I was never going back to stock,... and secondly I had to install the Intruder shocks for vertical clearance.
Hope that's understandable and helpful to you.
So many mods can make a subtle difference in how other mods can or need to be done.
Consider Tech section mods as general guides and adjust them to your individual circumstances.
If they prove innovational... it's your turn to contribute to the Tech Section!

Serobot,
What is the benefit of the GS front end?
I have one, but don't have a donor tank to clear the forks.
Also, any idea if the savage forks will fit the triple tree? I rebuilt mine and added the progressive springs, hate to give them up.

Akhsha, I hope you'll post up photos of your progress, it sounds like you have an interesting project going. Serowbot's bike is a one of a kind, and I'm happy to see him posting pics in your thread. It's a unique take on the Savage platform, one I really like, too.
