Title: Corbin Seat Post by Jim Patrick on 06/09/20 at 15:20:24 Hey All, I've had my 2019 S40 for a little over a month now and super happy with it... ok, except for the seat. I ran a search and found a couple of brief mentions of a Corbin seat, but no real feedback on how anyone liked it. If anyone out there put one on their bike I would really appreciate hearing your opinion. Corbin wants $423.00 for a new one. I don't mind paying if it was/is a good upgrade. Thanks in advance. |
Title: Re: Corbin Seat Post by Dennisgb on 06/09/20 at 16:22:26 I’ve had Corbin seats on a number of bikes but not my S40. There are mixed reviews on Corbin. I’ve loved them. They are a bit hard at first but eventually contour to your back side and become very comfortable. They are quality made and long lasting. |

Title: Re: Corbin Seat Post by Todd James on 06/09/20 at 21:20:13 I had a Corbin seat for a few months. I kept it on that long only because I paid so much money for it. It scrunched me too far forward on the bike and didn't allow me to slide back when I needed to stretch out a little. (I'm 5'-11") I thought the contour and the quality of the Corbin was good, but it wasn't as comfortable as the stock seat for longer rides. Note: You need to raise the front of the stock seat by at least an inch for the best comfort. Here's the thread on how to do that: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1109035237/0 |
Title: Re: Corbin Seat Post by verslagen1 on 06/09/20 at 22:49:07 I hear you have to break them in to your posterior. I found a deal on 1 so I tried it. It pushes you forward. I was afraid of denting the tank so I pulled it back off. If I continued to use it I would need to cut the seat back. |
Title: Re: Corbin Seat Post by IslandRoad on 06/10/20 at 01:47:34 I did ALOT of research into seats. I had an issue with a very sore tailbone on the stock seat. Based on info from this site I got hold of a another one-piece seat and went to town on it. I moved the rectifier from under the seat, cut the bump out of the seat-pan, reshaped the foam (with a carving knife and 80 grit sandpaper, and got it re-covered for $150. Now I can slide forward in the twisties or slide back on the highway ... and ... it looks pretty good. This strategy is not for everyone, but I found the learning curve to be well worth it. |
Title: Re: Corbin Seat Post by Todd James on 06/10/20 at 06:33:43 Here's the thread where IslandRoad shows the mods he made to his seat: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1483651560/0 He provides good pictures of what he did. There's also good discussion on that thread by other members about the seat. |
